Antonella Casiraghi, PhD

In 2000 she obtained her PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology and Regulatory Affairs at the University of Cagliari. Since 2006, she is Researcher at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Milan.

From the beginning of her research activity, she has focused her attention on the feasibility of transdermal delivery of new molecules and the enhancement of passive diffusion of old ones, by means of the diffusion cell method, using different types of membranes and formulations.  Subsequently, the interest has shifted to permeability of natural plant molecules of medicinal or cosmetic purposes. Her research is also focused on preformulation and formulation studies, firstly of monolayer patches and more recently of semisolids. Part of the research activity aims to improve compounding in pharmacy, in particular, she has investigated the possibility of obtaining suitable formulation for the medicinal use of Cannabis.
