Ilaria Franceschini obtained the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Milan in 2015.
Her Ph.D. project was related to the formulation and characterization of innovative materials for the design of oromucosal preparations, e.g. orodispersible and mucoadhesive drug delivery systems (polymeric thin films obtained from casting technique and tablets obtained from freeze-drying technique).
She spent eight months at the School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of University of Connecticut as visiting Ph.D. student to conduct, under the guide of Professor Michael J. Pikal, studies of the heat transfer of blisters as immediate packaging for freeze-dried tablets, since few information of the lyophilization process applied to the production of such dosage forms were available.
Currently, Ilaria Franceschini is Formulation Scientist at Italfarmaco S.p.A, where she works on preclinical and clinical pharmaceutical development of Proprietary APIs and formulation of complex generic drug products.
